Stratford-upon-Avon Spiritualist Church
History

Stratford-upon-Avon Spiritualist Church was founded in the early 1960's by Mr & Mrs Burton, Mr & Mrs Newman, Mrs Parkin, Ms Millie Knighting and her brother.

The first building to house the Church was The Firs, Rother Street, Stratford. This building has since been demolished and the Police Station now stands there.

The Church then moved to the back of the Rose and Crown public house in Sheep Street. By all accounts, those who attended said they had plenty of spirits there, due partly to all the bottles displayed around the room!

During a series of moves the Church relocated to the Liberal Rooms in Ely Street, then to the Youth Club in Tyler Street and then to Shottery.

From Shottery the Church moved to its present location, in Great William Street, within sight of Shakespeare's Birthplace.
